  • Do not choose the "Budget Period" option
  • Wait for the confirmation payment page to show before exiting the site.

6. How does the Seeding work?

The purpose of seeding is to compare results from different events to determine the relative ability of all cyclists.
This information is then used to allow people to cycle with others of the same ability making events safer for everyone.
How it works: In every event, a formula is applied to compare a cyclist’s time to that of the winner.
An index of 0 means you are one of the fastest in the country. 100 mean’s the slowest.

The exact formula is: (1 – (Winner’s Time / Your Time)) x 100.
Because some events are easier than others, the winner’s time is sometimes reduced for seeding purposes – the general
rule is the flatter the race, the more it is reduced. For each event in the seeding series, your index will be calculated.

Only your best 3 results will be used, and this is referred to the Weighted Index (Cycle Events uses the Weighted Index for
seeding purposes). Everyone is sorted from fastest (A Group) to slowest (Z Group) in seeding index order, and allocated
into groups of equal ability. Your events from the previous year, as well as the events from the current year will be used if they
meet the SuperSeeding Ladder criteria. For a race to be used for seeding it MUST meet the following criteria
(as posted on the SuperSeeding website):

1.The race must be 90km or longer.
2.The race must be Chip Timed.
3.The race must have a minimum of 850 finishers in the longest distance (i.e. over 90kms) participating in the event.
4.The details of each rider must accompany the time especially the ID no.
5.Results will be added 1 month after completion of the race. (Providing the data is correct).
6.Races will be taken off the SSL as soon as the next year’s event has been loaded (or a year has past), except for the Cape Argus.
7.Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour results that will stay on for two seasons.
To check your seeding go to www.cyclelab.com and click on the SuperSeeding tab on the top of the page.

7. Timing Chips:

There are three main timing chips that are used for timing is South Africa. If a race is being timed by 1 of these companies,
it will be specified on the website when you enter, and you will need to use that specific chip to receive an official result.
All their information and prices are kept on there websites. Please note that to find your result, you will need to go to that
timing companies website (please note that Cycle Events does not publish results on www.cyclelab.com)

Questions and Answers (www.cyclingsa.com):

Q: Once I have bought a CSA Membership through a race like the Cycle Tour, how do I get a full racing license?
A: In 2012 all riders need to become a Member of CSA first. Once you are a member, you can then get a full racing license
on the CSA website. This process will open on 01 November.

Q: What about Junior Licenses?
A: There are no Junior licenses. All riders over the age of 16 require a full racing license should they wish to compete in Nationals,
UCI events or get National Colours.

Q: Do I still need to join a club?
A: Yes, when the CSA system opens on 01 November, you will need to add your club and affiliate (province) details.

Q: What about the old Cycle Sport License?
A: CSA have decided to do away with this license. The process is now very simple. You join CSA as a member.
Should you wish to have a full racing license, then you can upgrade to this option.

Q: Can I get a full racing license without becoming a member.
A: No. However after 01 November, if you chose to take out your membership on the CSA website, you can upgrade to a
full racing license at the same time, merely by ticking a box.

Q: Who is the service provider and where do I find the system?
A: The system will be on the CSA website (www.cyclingsa.com) and is owned and administered by CSA.
