Bontrager aluminiium bottle cages are formed using 6mm, hollow 6061-T6 aluminum tubing, which creats a very lightweight cage at very low cost. It is also powder coated to keep it from marking or losing colour.
Because of the design of the bolt holes this cage can be fitted to a bicycle in seconds without completely removing the cage screws from the frame. The shape of the cage also allows it to be fitted over front derailleur clamps, solving a major problem for some bicycles. Using hollow tubing cuts further reduces the weight without any loss of strength.
