Lubrication is essential to the wellbeing of your bicycle. The most commonly luricated part is the chain, , which prevents noisy squeeks, reduces chain wear and increases the life of your chain. Most lubes are designed to work either in wet weather, being resistant to water, or dry weather, pushing off dust. Some lubricants are even all weather lubes, being resistant to water and non sticky. It is very important to choose the right lube for your riding condition. An often overlooked area is your gear cables, which require lubrication to work smoothly and keep out dust. There are also internal areas, but most of those are better left to a qualified mechanic to check during a bicycle service.
